It’s Thanksgiving. Today, millions of Americans well enjoy feasts prepared in relative comfort and enjoy company and friends without fear or without hardship.
In fact many of us will be regretting the amount of food we’ve consumed by this time tomorrow.
We have it so, so easy.
But, if Hurricane Sandy teaches us anything, it’s that, in a blink, this could all be gone.
… And that we have very, very much to be grateful for.
I hope all of us can reach out a little more often, and love a little more fully.
A Church member in the New York area made a video to document the relief efforts and to encourage more volunteers to help. In the process he caught the essence of why Mormons help their neighbors in times of need, such as in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy.
As one Mormon Helping Hands volunteer featured in the film says, “It’s the gospel [of Jesus Christ] in action. … It’s what Christ taught, and we’re showing what we believe.”#

Joseph Smith taught:
A man filled with the love of God, is not content with blessing his family alone, but ranges through the whole world, anxious to bless the whole human race (Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, p. 174).
