News agencies are reporting that Google was less liked online this year than Facebook, which points to “the rapid ascendance of social networking over search engines and Internet portals.”
This news comes weeks after Glassdoor.com reports that Facebook is the #1 place to work in the US according to its members.
But, is this news? Google’s mission is to organize and present you with information. Facebook is out to connect you with the things in your life that interest you. Did anyone really think that, given 5 minutes to spare, someone would go to Google and check out, say, economic statistics on unemployment trends across Europe rather than check out what their friends are doing?
And apparently, some people think this is all foolishness anyway. Get offline and do something outside, I think is the point of this post.
Still, I’m going to post this on my Google-optimized blog and then share it on twitter.
