Alternate title: "How to make sure the the Grinch steals all of Christmas"
Maybe in 1982, when you were lucky enough not to be laid off from the big Steel Plant in your town, you would sit on your hands and shut up when told that you’re going to soon kill a favorite product people love.
Tuesday, Yahoo! announced it would drop staff by 4%, letting +500 employees go.
The company, which some say should include CEO Carol Bartz in the short-list, created much of the Internet sharing generation we have today, and its employees and (now) former employees are doing just that—talking. A Lot.
"i was let go, and my manager even did not show up today. must hide at home." "People in the UK find out tomorrow.
"Also, please take into account that many of the contractors at Yahoo, the "permatemps," are not being renewed. Contractors don’t get layoff packages and do the same jobs as full time employees. So really, Yahoo is reducing is workforce by more than 5%."
I have worked here for 5 years and I can say without question I have never seen this place in such shambles.
@blakei whoever leaked this may get fired, and I am sure that’s company policy to do, but with their former friends all out on the street today + this list of companies offering to hire any Yahoo! who is interested, I’m not sure your public insult-to-injury comment is going to win over many fans.
