Gmail App for Android Updated

The Gmail App for Android has been updated according to the Google Mobile blog and the Gmail blog, including some pretty good updates:

  • Gmail app releases aren’t tied to Android OS releases anymore.
  • Improved replies and access to quoted text.
  • Improved email threading: “Just like in the desktop version of Gmail. Tap “Show quoted text” to reveal the previous message.”
  • Support for Priority Inbox via the “Important” label.

The downside? You must have Android 2.2 (Froyo) to get the update (otherwise, it won’t even show up as an update in your Android Market).  Phones known to have this OS (without manual updating) are Nexus One, HTC EVO, Motorola Droid 2 and Motorola Droid.

Get the app by scanning the QR code below or clicking here from your phone.
